Addressing the Myths

While the link between MS and the venous system is grounded in over a century of scientific research, CCSVI is still considered ‘new,’ and to some, controversial, or even radical. Consequently, misinformation about CCSVI is widespread. Claims both for and against CCSVI have been exaggerated and distorted well beyond any underlying scientific basis.

In “Addressing the Myths,” we attempt to dispel some of the more pervasive misinformation about CCSVI.

1 CCSVI is the cause of MS and the ‘Liberation Treatment’ is the cure
2 MS is an autoimmune disease; it has nothing to do with the vascular system
3 Progressive MS patients are not included in the CCSVI theory of MS
4 MS patients who claim to have benefited from treatment for CCSVI are only experiencing a placebo effect
5 The procedures used to identify CCSVI in MS patients are so subjective that operator bias cannot be eliminated. If a technician wants to find CCSVI, he or she can
6 There is a conspiracy between the medical community and the pharmaceutical companies to blackball CCSVI theory
7 Dr. Zamboni's studies were unscientific
8 CCSVI theory is completely based on the work of one man in Italy
9 CCSVI Is Too Dangerous
