CCSVI treatment is a minimally invasive, non-operative, endovascular procedure based on common endovascular techniques that have been widely used for over 20 years. The only study measuring CCSVI treatment risk was conducted by Dr. Zamboni in 20096. For the 65 patients treated, Dr. Zamboni’s team reported no serious health problems resulting from treatment, a finding consistent with a long history documenting the general safety of endovascular procedures. However, the procedure is in no way minor, and it does expose the patient to a variety of potential risks.
